Architects Without Borders
Join Architects Without Borders when they continue their exploration of urbanization in Sub-Saharan Africa. This time, they will search for future cities in the present, become familiar with youth activism and green public spaces in Nairobi, as they bring you on a journey to the “Green Cities South of Sahara.”
“The sustainable and regenerative cities of the future are out there – we just have to get better at spotting them!” – Morten Nielsen
Morten Nielsen is an anthropologist working internationally on socially sustainable urban development – and stand-up comedy. Morten has an extensive background with several interdisciplinary projects that focus on sustainable urban development and on participatory exhibition-making, as well as fieldwork projects ranging from Brazil to Mozambique, among community leaders in poor urban neighborhoods, and research on housing and urban planning.
“Our passion is the transformation of public spaces that represent the dreams of young people and their right to the city” – Dreamtown
Rasmus Bering and the Copenhagen-based NGO Dreamtown work to create physical spaces with and for youth, and to enlarge the space for their participation across cities in Africa. With a focus on slums, informal settlements, and low-income neighborhoods, Dreamtown develops green, creative, and safe spaces in partnerships with young urban activists.
